Before the Mets and Yankees took the field, Brees was accompanied by his son, Baylen, whom he hoisted on the field after the Saints' victory over the Indianapolis Colts on February 7.
Brees threw a strike to catcher Francisco Cervelli.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Brees completed 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns in leading his club to its first Super Bowl appearance and championship last season.
Brees was on hand at Yankee Stadium to present a $10,000 check to the New York Yankees Foundation on behalf of Pampers. He was greeted by Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira in a pregame ceremony behind home plate.
