Yanks complete Wood deal, ship pair to Tribe
ARLINGTON -- The Yankees completed their July 31 trade for right-hander Kerry Wood on Thursday, sending Minor League infielder Matt Cusick and right-hander Andrew Shive to the Indians as the players to be named.
Cusick, 24, batted .243 with three home runs and 35 RBIs in 88 games between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year. He was originally a 10th-round selection of the Astros in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
Shive, 24, was 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA in 16 relief appearances for Class A Staten Island and Class A Charleston in 2010, walking 20 and striking out 14 in 23 2/3 innings while permitting 21 hits. He was a 35th-round Draft selection of the Yankees in 2008.
