Yanks place Marquez on DL, activate Carlyle

CINCINNATI -- Yankees right-hander Jeff Marquez was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a sore right shoulder.

A club spokesman said that Marquez will be seen on Thursday in New York by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad.

Right-hander Buddy Carlyle was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Marquez's place on the active roster.

The move was made after New York's 4-2 victory over the Reds on Wednesday, the first game of a day-night doubleheader. Carlyle was expected to be in uniform for the second game.

Marquez had no record and a 2.25 ERA in three appearances with New York, spanning four innings. He was claimed off waivers from the White Sox on June 8.
