The hour-long HBO special chronicling Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit has been scheduled to premiere at 9 p.m. ET on July 28 -- just 19 days after Jeter reached the rare milestone.
Entitled "DEREK JETER 3K," the program had the cooperation of Jeter, the Yankees and MLB Productions. Its makers were given access to Jeter both at and away from the ballpark. Interviews in the piece include Jeter's family and friends, and extend to legends and powerhouses of the game, from Hal Steinbrenner, Brian Cashman and Joe Girardi, to Joe Torre, Curtis Granderson, Minka Kelly and Billy Crystal. Liev Schreiber, the voice of HBO Sports, narrated the piece.
After the premiere and regular replays, the special also will be available to subscribers on HBO On Demand and HBO Go.
