NEW YORK -- Monday's game between the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics was postponed due to inclement weather and will be rescheduled for a date to be determined in July.
The announcement was made by the Yankees at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET, resulting in the first rainout at the new Yankee Stadium. Cold, wet and windy conditions were expected to continue for the rest of the evening in the New York area.
Fans holding paid tickets for the April 20 postponed game may use them for the rescheduled game between the Yankees and Athletics or exchange their paid tickets for any regular-season game at Yankee Stadium within 12 months of the postponed game (subject to availability). Fans are encouraged to use their tickets for the rescheduled game.
A makeup date was not immediately announced, but it is expected to be in July. The two clubs are scheduled to meet again in the Bronx July 24-26, with a common off-day July 23.
Both clubs plan to use the same starting pitchers for Tuesday's matchup, with left-hander Dana Eveland drawing the call for the Athletics and left-hander Andy Pettitte making the start for the Yankees. Left-handers CC Sabathia and Brett Anderson will face off in the series finale on Wednesday.
Tickets can be exchanged at Yankee Stadium Advance Ticket Windows only, which are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. ET, Sunday from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., and until two hours after the scheduled start time of any regularly scheduled home game.
Complimentary tickets (COMP) or equivalent tickets bear no cash value and cannot be exchanged or redeemed for any benefits that may be offered to ticket(s) with a dollar value.
