Yanks have signed first 17 Draft picks

NEW YORK -- The deadline for signing picks from the 2013 First-Year Player Draft passed at 5 p.m. ET on Friday, but the Yankees had already gotten a majority of their players under contract by that point.

The last to sign was outfielder Aaron Judge, the second pick of the first round. New York has not announced the signing yet, but a baseball source confirmed to MLB.com that Judge signed a contract on Thursday worth $1.8 million.

The Yankees' first pick, third baseman Eric Jagielo, agreed to a contract worth $1,839,400 on June 13, and the final first-round pick, left-hander Ian Clarkin, signed a contract worth $1,650,000 six days later. The second- and third-round picks, second baseman Gosuke Katoh and outfielder Michael O'Neill, also signed.

Jagielo and O'Neill are playing for the Staten Island Yankees, and Katoh is playing for the Gulf Coast League Yankees. Clarkin, who was signed out of high school, has yet to debut.

Judge's signing means that the Yankees have agreed to contracts with each of their first 17 picks in the 2013 Draft, ranging from rounds 1 through 15. Overall they have signed 26 of their 42 draftees.
