BALTIMORE -- The Yankees suspect that catcher Austin Romine suffered a concussion after he was struck in the mask by an eighth-inning Adam Jones foul tip in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Orioles.

Romine had entered the game in the seventh after catcher Chris Stewart was pinch-hit for. He was jarred by the tip and initially tried to stay in the game, but then was removed by manager Joe Girardi and head athletic trainer Steve Donohue.

"He's got probably a concussion. He's a little dizzy," Girardi said. "He said he was fine and he passed all the tests when we first went out there, and then after the one hitter, he got nauseous, so we just took him out."

Girardi said Romine went to a local hospital for evaluation. He was replaced behind the plate by rookie J.R. Murphy, who had been in the bullpen and hurried to enter the game.
