"We are proud to reach a milestone that is representative of the passion and commitment Yankees fans have demonstrated for generations," said Yankees COO Lonn Trost.
"Yankees fans from every corner of the globe, including fans from each of the 50 United States, have embraced the exclusive online benefits delivered to their inbox."
To honor Evans becoming a milestone piece of their fan base, the Yankees will reward the 57-year-old Pennsauken, N.J., resident with four Field Level tickets to a future Yankees home game of his choice.
"This is great," Evans said. "I didn't think I'd ever have a chance to go to the new Yankee Stadium. But I'm obviously going to go now."
Evans said that he was surprised by the attention, and initially wondered if a friend was putting him up to a prank. But Evans' skepticism turned to excitement when he learned that the Yankees truly did want to reward him.
Having last visited the old Yankee Stadium in 2007, Evans plans to choose the Aug. 29 contest against the Chicago White Sox to make his first trip to the new facility, where he can see his favorite American League team in action once more.
"I'm a Yankees and Phillies fan," Evans said. "I live in the Philadelphia area but I grew up a Yankees fan, rooting for Mickey Mantle, the Mick, No. 7. You have to remember, I'm 57 years old; the Yankees were the team."
As for the winning subscription, Evans said he had logged on to MLB.com to purchase tickets to a Phillies home game at Citizens Bank Park.
"They had a survey and I had to pick my favorite American League and National League teams," Evans said. "So, obviously, I picked the Yankees and Phillies. I never expected to win this."
