Yanks release Spring Training schedule

NEW YORK -- The Yankees will open their 2010 Spring Training schedule on March 3 against the Pirates at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla., the club announced on Monday.

New York's defense of its World Series title will begin with a 33-game Grapefruit League schedule that will include 16 home games. The Yankees will complete the exhibition slate with a game against their Minor League stars on April 3, in which all fans will receive a commemorative championship ring.

In addition, the Yankees announced that ticket prices for 2010 Spring Training home games will remain the same as last season, marking the second consecutive year the club has carried over the same prices from the previous spring.

Included in the Yankees' home exhibition games are six night contests (7:05 p.m. ET start time) on March 11 vs. the Braves; March 16 vs. the Astros; March 18 vs. the Rays; March 24 vs. the Nationals; March 26 vs. the Phillies; and March 30 vs. the Blue Jays.

The Yankees will see the National League champion Phillies on five dates, with the first of those rematches of the 2009 World Series coming on March 4 across the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Clearwater, Fla. New York will face all of its American League East rivals this spring except for Boston, against whom it will both open and close the regular season.

Yankees pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Feb. 17, with manager Joe Girardi's first workout scheduled for Feb. 18. The Yankees' first full-squad workout is scheduled for Feb. 24.

Season tickets for the Yankees' 2010 home exhibition schedule, their 15th spring at the complex now named for George M. Steinbrenner, will go on sale at the beginning of December. Individual-game spring tickets will go on sale in January. For information, fans should visit Yankees.com.
