Daniel joined the Cubs on a minor league contract in January following six years in the Yankees farm system ... has compiled a 3.67 ERA (217 ER/532.2 IP) and gone 27-30 with two complete games and one save in 107 minor league contests, including 94 starts... Has averaged just two walks every 9.0 innings (116 total) compared to 6.8 strikeouts per 9.0 innings (402 total)... Missed the 2015 campaign after undergoing a procedure to remove bone spurs in his left elbow ... since returning to action in 2016, is 16-13 with a 3.67 ERA (106 ER/260.0 IP) in 51 minor league games, including 44 starts... Named a 2014 Florida State League mid-season All-Star with Single-A Tampa... Selected by the Yankees in the 20th round of the 2011 draft ... had committed to play at the University of San Diego before signing with New York...
