Yankees deal Headley, Mitchell to Padres

The Yankees are continuing to make noise at the Winter Meetings, agreeing on Tuesday morning to trade third baseman Chase Headley and right-hander Bryan Mitchell to the Padres in exchange for outfielder Jabari Blash, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

Full name is Bryan Bedford Mitchell…was committed to play baseball for the University of North Carolina, but instead signed with the Yankees. Graduated from Rockingham County High School in Reidsville, N.C. in June 2009…was on the baseball team and played right field and designated hitter in games he did not pitch…was named to the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-Star team in 2009…was named the top prospect at the 2008 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase…was also honored on All-Conference and All-Area teams…as a junior in 2008, went 8-1 with a 1.67 ERA in 63.0IP (38BB, 96K)…as a senior in 2009, was 5-2 with a 0.62 ERA in 45.1IP (18BB, 87K).

2016
